About MJ!

The name’s MJ. MJ Hamilton. I’m a Sophomore in High School, and I share this site with my friend Beth Summers.

Beth calls me a walking oxymoron. I’m a pessimistic optimist. A wolf-loving cat person. A tough-ass girl who couldn’t hurt a fly–literally, I’d feel to guilty. A lucky loser, I guess.

My entire life revolves around four things: friends/family (they’re the same to me), my cat Salem, writing, and music. In that order. People call me weird, but that’s okay. I’m just fine with that. In fact, if I was normal, there’s a good chance I’d blow my brains out for boredom.

And yet, I see all these people struggling to fit in with every-day monotony and, I’d feel pity for them if I did not feel that pity is a sign of disrespect. To me, “normal” is the greatest of insults. Who would want to fit in? After all, we are all born to stand out. We are craters in the moon; all different in some way or another, and we should be proud of that.

MJ, that's me! <3

But, I guess I got a little off-subject there for a minute. If you’re on this page, you’re one of the few people who might actually want to learn more about me (congratulations, you’re unique already!).

I’m a poet and a writer. I have two books of poetry published already, but I hope to go to the big time eventually and publish a novel. Scratch that–go to the big time and become a novelist. I guess that’s one of my fatal flaws: I have no fallback. If I’m not a novelist, what will I be? Probably a hobo. Great, that’s something to look forward to. At least it puts that much more pressure on me to be great. Can you say “encouragement”?

I’m also an Impulse Girl. I work almost solely on impulse. Everything I do is sudden and not very well thought out. That’s why I tend to pay a toll for the consequences. I don’t really regret it though, because at least I have fun with life. I’m that girl you see walking by with a huge smile on her face, surround by the few people she loves most in the world.

I think that’s how everyone should live: happy and high on life.  Hearts are captured in only the strongest of dream catchers. One must weave a web of kindness to catch the love of another.

I also have another blog of strictly poetry. You can access it by clicking the link below:
